bathroom countertop storage drawers – Wooden drawers, over time can create niggling little faults which we invariably put up with, inconvenient and annoying as they can be when really – the majority of those problems are relatively easy to repair. Drawers where the foundation has broken and sticking drawers are possibly the most frequent problems experienced. With just a little understanding these can be rectified without needing to begin calling around for a joiner as the first or our only alternative.

Overloading drawers can often be the root cause of sticking drawers. The very first step is to completely empty the drawer and remove for inspection. Check for protruding or loose nails or pins either on the drawer or in and about the drawer framework. It could be that straightforward.

Tip. Before getting the toolkit outside for sticking drawers; first try rubbing the runners and drawer grooves with candle wax. This might just do the job without any further effort.

Drawer runners could also be the culprit. Check how smoothly the lure slides along the wooden runners. Should they’ve worked loose it can be the reason behind sticking; again, generally due to overloading. If so, then just apply fresh glue to the runner and pin back into place.

The uppermost sides can become worn with time and use. Check the bottom of the runner is still great – it might be possible to just remove the runner and flip it over. If so, then cautiously prise it off using a wood chisel- apply glue- and re-pin into place.

New runners may be required if turning the previous runners round does not solve the issue of sticking. Apply a thin coat of wood glue to the rear of the new runner- press place- and combine with hooks.

Drawer bases can also suffer the negative effects of overloading. In time they will begin to sag, and they can split entirely, requiring replacement. In this case, cut on a fresh foundation bit from plywood or by a hardwood of selection. Then remove the pins or nails securing the damaged foundation to the entire body of the drawer utilizing pincers and remove any glue blocks which might be attached with a mallet and wood chisel. Replace with fresh foundation by gluing and utilizing hooks.

From a strength perspective, based on usage, this might not be the most suitable choice.
