height of 4 drawer file cabinet – Wooden drawers, over time may develop niggling little defects that we invariably put up with, inconvenient and annoying as they may be when actually – the majority of these problems are rather simple to repair. Drawers at which the foundation has broken and sticking drawers are probably the most common problems experienced. With only a little understanding these may be rectified without having to begin calling around for a joiner as the first or our sole alternative.

Overloading drawers may often be the root cause of sticking drawers. The first step would be to completely empty the drawer and eliminate inspection. Check for protruding or loose pins or nails either on the jar or at and around the drawer frame. It could be that straightforward.

Tip. This may just do the task with no additional work.

Drawer runners are also the culprit. Check how smoothly the lure slides along the wooden runners. Should they’ve worked loose it may be the reason behind sticking; again, generally because of overloading. If so, then simply apply new adhesive to the runner and pin into position.

Worn runners are another common cause of drawer problems. The uppermost sides can become worn with use and time. Check that the bottom of the runner remains great – it may be possible to simply eliminate the runner and flip it over. If so, then carefully prise it off with a wood chisel- apply adhesive- and re-pin into place.

New runners may be demanded if turning the previous runners around doesn’t solve the problem of sticking. This is the case cut a few pieces of wood to the same dimensions as the original runners, smooth with a medium abrasive paper and drill with the smallest wood drill bit on your arsenal to take the small diameter of the fixing panel pins or nails. Apply a thin coating of wood adhesive to the back of the runner- press place- and combine with hooks.

Drawer bases may also suffer the adverse effects of overloading. In time they will start to sag and they can split completely, requiring replacement. In this case, cut on a fresh foundation piece from plywood or from a hardwood of selection. Then remove the pins or nails securing the damaged foundation to the body of the drawer utilizing pincers, and eliminate any glue blocks that may be attached with a mallet and wood chisel. Replace with fresh foundation by gluing and utilizing hooks.

Drawer bases that are broken may be occasionally repaired, that is to say; simply get rid of both halves in the drawer body and paste them back together. From a strength point of view, depending on usage, this may not be the best option.
